LOS ANGELES--Today was a day that will go down in LA Dodgers history as General Manager Peter M. Rodriguez-Jackson held a 3 hour press conference to announce a new manager, a re-vamped bullpen, two new infielders, and a new starting pitcher.
Mr. Rodriguez-Jackson promised Dodger fans that this off-season would see much improvement in the lineup and pitching staff for the team, but it wasn't known who and most importantly how these improvements would be added, as well as what the cost would be. It’s been a very active off-season thus far for the Dodgers and Mr. Rodriguez-Jackson was kind enough to sit down with us on a Saturday afternoon and go in depth and explain each of the moves made so far this offseason.
Los Angeles Times: Alright nice of you to be here Mr. Rodriguez-Jackson.
![[image]](http://www.virginmedia.com/images/george_clinton-gal-eccentrics.jpg)
Rodriguez-Jackson: No problem, I'd be playing golf otherwise. Thought I'd spread some information to our fans about what we were doing this off-season instead.
LAT: Before we get started, you said you’d talk to the fans and the media with regularity, yet it didn’t happen last season what was the cause of that? PRJ: I was dealing with personal issues; however, it did not affect my job as General Manager of this ball club. I tried to improve this team the best I could adding young third basemen Alex Gordon, but I couldn’t be available to the media.
LAT: Let’s get to this off-season you have made quite a few moves this off-season what was your biggest priority this offseason?
![[image]](http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/63/631778.jpg) "I was awful this year and I will probably never see the majors again" - Cody White, after the 162nd game of the 2012 season
PRJ: Priority number one was the bullpen; we spent most of the season with Troy Patton and Cody White as our left-handers in the bullpen and it clearly wasn’t working out. Troy was having problems preparing for bullpen work as he had never worked out of the pen before with any success so we plugged him into the rotation and until he was injured he was pitching very well for us. Cody then was just put in a very unfortunate situation, he just isn’t a major league pitcher, he’s a great guy and he did a pretty good job but he wasn’t very good for us and we knew we had to upgrade.
LAT: What was your second biggest priority? PRJ: Getting on base, I’m a big proponent of the idea that getting on base creates runs. That’s pretty indisputable, if you have a bunch of sluggers who hit a bunch of solo shots your team won’t fare very well. We need to get on base so when those bloopers and seeing-eye singles happen they could be knocking someone in or putting them in scoring position to score more runs.
LAT: Lastly what was your third biggest priority? PRJ: Simply getting production out of the first-base position. We didn’t get anything out of first base last season with Luke Scott who unfortunately had a bad season and Joe was forced to play Alfonso Soriano at first base, something that winning teams just do not do. So we knew we had to upgrade there, and Garrett Atkins, bless him just wasn’t good enough defensively for us to move him there permanently, we had to upgrade.
LAT: Let’s look at each move made thus far shall we? PRJ: We shall!
Trade with the Boston Red Sox: Dodgers get: Catcher Jon Still Right fielder/third basemen/first basemen Kevin Youkilis
Dodgers trade: Closer/middle reliever Jonathan Broxton Minor league reliever Higinio Mejia
LAT: Now the first move you made this offseason was getting Kevin Youkilis, and he cost you the 2010 Comeback Player of the Year in Jonathan Broxton. Why do you think he was an important piece to add to this year’s Dodger team?
![[image]](http://www.weallscheme.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/kevin-youkilis.jpg) The Greek God and uber bear Kevin Youkilis is ready to find himself some twinks in LA this season
PRJ: As I said before we would like to add guys who get on base at a good pace and Kevin Youkilis is doubtlessly that guy. He plays great defense, and he adds a right handed bat to plug into the middle of the order to break up all the left-handers. Not to mention that he is a fantastic defensive first baseman, something we did not have last year. Now he cost us Broxton who had a down year and even lost his closing job, however Boston needed help in their bullpen and we did too, but we felt that adding someone like Youkilis superseded the head-case issues Broxton brought to this team. You never knew what was going to happen with him; we felt we could add more consistency to our team through additional moves. And the addition of Jon Still I feel is the forgotten piece in the deal, he’s another guy that will get on base and he absolutely mashes left handed pitchers. He will be our back up catcher next season and he can play a little first base as well adding more versatility to our already versatile bench.
LAT: Moving on to your first signing of the free-agency period you signed right-handed starter Mike Pelfrey formerly of the New York Mets to a deal worth $30-million over five years. Your starting rotation was the strength of the team last year, why did you think it was necessary to add another arm?
![[image]](http://www.nleastchatter.com/realdirtymets/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/mike-pelfrey.jpg) Mike Pelfrey is ready to eat NL West hitters alive!
PRJ: I have been a fan of Mike Pelfrey since he was drafted, he’s the kind of pitcher that I love, he keeps the ball down, and he doesn’t throw it past hitters all the time while he has the ability to do so. In the last couple of years he’s shown to be one of the more intelligent pitchers in the major leagues, getting the most out of every pitch and every batter faced. He’s been extremely consistent and consistent pitching is hard to find, when you find it you better jump on it. Like the old baseball cliché goes: you can never have enough pitching.
LAT: That same day you announced the signing of well traveled left-handed pitcher Rich Hill, through his career he’s been used as both a starter and a reliever, what are your plans for using him this season?
![[image]](http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/21/210753.jpg) Rich Hill is no longer a starter but has found success pitching out of the pen to keep a job in the major leagues
PRJ: Well he was signed to be a reliever; however the fact that he has had success in the past starting was certainly a positive. He was used out of the bullpen for the first time last year in St. Louis and did a very, very good job. Left-handed relief was a huge issue for us last year so it was good to add a quality arm to our pen.
Trade with the Oakland Athletics: Dodgers get: Middle reliever Jeff Niemann
Dodgers trade: Double-A starting pitcher Ian Vetter LAT: Explain the deal with Oakland to bring in Jeff Niemann. PRJ: Well we’re very familiar with Jeff we had him here in 2011; he did not however dress for a game with us. Jeff is a quality reliever with a variety of pitches, he is one of those rubber arm types that can come out of the pen and pitch just about everyday if asked to, he hasn’t really gotten an opportunity to pitch on a consistent basis in the last couple of years so we’re going to give him a shot and see what happens.
LAT: Shortly there after you added Craig Breslow signing him to a two year deal worth four million dollars, as well as claiming Jeremy Bonderman from the Detroit Tigers. Go into some detail about those moves.
![[image]](http://www.beloblog.com/ProJo_Blogs/sportsblog/breslow0529.jpg) "Hi I'm your new LOOGY!" Craig Breslow's first words to the LA press
PRJ: Well first off, the Bonderman move was simply for depth he doesn’t cost much and if we have a cataclysmic season it’s always nice to know you have former major leaguers in AAA to step in and play. Now the Breslow signing gives us another left-handed reliever to come out of the pen giving us two quality left handers to come in. Breslow will be utilized as more of a late innings lefties only guy, while Rich Hill will be facing more right handers and will pitch more lower leverage innings.
LAT: You recently dealt two minor league prospects first baseman Austin Gallagher and starting pitcher Dan Danielson to St. Louis for cash considerations, does that mean this team is in financial trouble? PRJ: Not anymore. [smiles]
Trade with the Kansas City Royals: Dodgers get: Middle reliever/closer Joakim Soria Second baseman Cesar Trevino
Dodgers trade: Left fielder/first baseman Chris Carter Second baseman Mike Fontenot Middle reliever Joel Lima
LAT: Now tell us about the deal you made today with the Royals.
![[image]](http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/07/30/sports/31soria.533.jpg) "It feels so good to wake up in the morning and actually want to live." - Joakim Soria on being traded from Kansas City
PRJ: Certainly. I’m not sure many fans know about these guys but we certainly added some quality players today. Joakim Soria was at one time the closer for the Kansas City Royals and he has absolutely dynamic stuff, he’s very, very good. He had requested a trade to the West Coast and believe you, me, we were more than happy to oblige. Along with him we added second baseman Cesar Trevino he has a poor season last year, but regardless he is an on-base machine something this team needs desperately. We were 25th in the major leagues in walks last year, I assure you we won’t be that low this season. Walks create runs, and we will score runs. It hurts to give up Chris Carter for sure, he had a great year, but I feel this deal makes us a better team and helps our bullpen and the top of our lineup greatly.
LAT: Do you have any other moves to announce? PRJ: Not quite yet. LAT: Thank you for your time. PRJ: No problem at all, have a great one.

![[image]](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/56/LA_1142.png) LOS ANGELES--The Los Angeles Dodgers officially welcomed new manager Eric Karros to the ballclub and introduced him to the press.
![[image]](http://la.curbed.com/uploads/2009-6-mccourt.jpg) Frank McCourt: Nice to see everyone here. Well last year was a tough year for this organization while we were successful and finished over .500 it was doubtlessly a difficult year, leading to a difficult off-season with Joe Torre deciding to retire. We wish Joe the best, and we were happy to know when he’s inducted into the Hall of Fame that he will have the Los Angeles Dodgers’ organization on his plaque. Now for today’s announcement here is General Manager Peter M. Rodriguez-Jackson.
Peter Rodriguez-Jackson: Thank you, well we spent a long time searching and interviewing. The man we’re about to introduce is a guy who amazed us the most with his baseball knowledge, was a guy who’s funny and personable and is already known to quite a few guys in our locker room. Ladies and gentlemen I’d like to introduce the new manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers, a guy that you’re all familiar with. Mr. Eric Karros.
![[image]](http://www.insidesocal.com/tomhoffarth/archives/AACF032~Eric-Karros-Batting-Photofile-Posters.jpg) Long-time Dodger Eric Karros returns to the Chavez Ravine to manage his former team.
[APPLAUSE]
Eric Karros: Nice to see you guys, some of you nice to see you again. I’m as surprised as you all to be there, and I’m twice as excited. I can’t wait to get this team back on track to play to their talents. This is a great team here, great hitting, great pitching, and improving defense.
TJ Simers: How are you going to structure the lineup?
Eric Karros: We’ll see, I can’t tell you for sure what the lineup is going to look like on opening day right this second. The season isn’t even close to starting and I haven’t even had a chance to see my players play. I promise you that after Spring Training is over I’ll be able to give you information.
Bill Plaschke: How is Troy Patton’s rehab going?
Eric Karros: He’s fine, just fine. I actually talked to him earlier today and he is on schedule, contrary to popular belief he did not actually have Tommy John surgery, he had a far less intrusive procedure. The recovery time is much shorter and there is little loss of velocity. He will miss the beginning of spring training, however barring any setbacks he should be ready to start the season after going through some extended spring training after opening day.
Bill Plaschke: Will he miss any scheduled starts?
Eric Karros: Barring any setbacks no. Troy’s first start he’ll be on a pitch count of 80 pitches, if he makes it through that fine, then we’ll take off the leash in his starts and make sure he keeps up with his exercises for his elbow.
Chris Erskine: What are you going to do about the closing situation? Is Jeremy Accardo the closer or is it newly acquired Joakim Soria?
![[image]](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y2jPfFxVTZo/SkLipj9dP3I/AAAAAAAABmE/0s0G36ZD5mE/s400/EricKarros.JPG) Fan friendly Eric Karros cannot wait for the season to start here in LA
Eric Karros: Well I can’t give any 100% answers right now but what I can tell ya is that it’s Accardo’s job to lose. He gave up what, one earned run in the final two months? I mean he was red hot, we’ll have to see how he handles it. A big part of Spring Training will be determining positions in the bullpen, no jobs are particularly safe, and heck there may be some fellas in the minors that could surprise and make the team.
Jerry Crowe: How are you going to handle the new left-handers in the bullpen?
Eric Karros: Boy you guys are asking the tough questions early on aren’t ya? As it stands now Breslow will be pitching to the harder left-handed hitters in the later innings, and Rich Hill will be pitching in more of the middle innings against both left-handers and right-handers. Any other questions? No? Well I would just like to emphasize that I will be doing everything I can to help this team to the promised land, I spent more than a decade here and I can’t put into words how happy I am to be back.

LA Dodgers Fastballs All Your Dodgers News At 100 MPH...STRAIGHT AT YOUR HEAD! Dodgers Announce Signing of Veteran Right Fielder Bobby Abreu
![[image]](http://cdn2.sbnation.com/entry_photo_images/8449/123139_correction_red_sox_angels_baseball.jpg) Abreu has joined the shameless group of older players reduced to signing short deals in hopes of a ring
The Dodgers earlier today announced they have signed veteran Right Fielder Bobby Abreu to a one-year deal. General Manager Peter M. Rodriguez-Jackson said that Abreu would be a short-term replacement for the loss of traded Left Fielder Chris Carter. Bobby Abreu will be hitting strictly against right-handed pitching and will be removed from games in favor of hot-shot prospect Yossandy Garcia who is for right now specifically facing left-handers while the Dodgers' coaches work on his swing and his struggles versus right-handed pitching.
Eric Karros Announces Coaching Staff Eric Karros officially announced his coaching staff for the Dodgers' 2012 season. They are as follows:
Hitting Coach: ![[image]](http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6889/coloradorockiesvlosange.jpg) Nuff' said.
Pitching Coach: ![[image]](http://www.wisdomportal.com/Numbers/55-OrelHershiser.jpg) Orel Hershiser - While he didn't get the managerial job Orel wanted badly to be a part of the Dodgers' future, so he jumped the the opportunity to accept the pitching coach job in the Chavez Ravine.
First Base Coach: ![[image]](http://mopupduty.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/tim-raines-hof.png) Tim Raines - One of the greatest basestealers of all time Tim Raines has signed on to help the LA Dodgers' running game which was 27th in the league last year.
Third Base Coach: ![[image]](http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/pena_mgr2005.jpg) Tony Pena - Former Royals manager Tony Pena is back in baseball being hired as third base coach for the LA Dodgers.
Bench Coach: ![[image]](http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2007/0918/mlb_ap_grudzielanek_275.jpg) Mark Grudzielanek - One of the more respected players during his time and long-time close friend of Eric Karros Mark Grudzielanek has signed on as bench coach of his former team the Dodgers rounding out the new standard coaching staff.
Eric Karros however also added a few former players into special positions specifically made to help the team.
Assistant Coach for Pinch Hitting Theory: ![[image]](http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2008/03/17/PH2008031703040.jpg) Lenny Harris - Baseball's all-time leading pinch hitter is on to teach the Dodger players proper mindset and proper approach to pinch hitter. To Mr. Harris pinch hitting isn't just a part of baseball, it's a part of life.
Assistant Coach for Power and Speed: ![[image]](http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/topstory/sports/mondesi_raul0701.jpg) In an act of good faith Eric Karros has given financially strapped former teammate Raul Mondesi another job in major league baseball. A 30-30 threat in his prime Raul Mondesi knows how to combine power and speed, so he has been signed on to help the Dodgers' younger players specifically Jamie Pedroza hone their power and their speed.

LA Dodger Chit Chat LOS ANGELES--The season is now 22.8% over and the LA Dodgers are red hot, after a bit of a stumbly start the Dodgers started clicking and now lead the NL West by 4 games. The Times had the chance to sit down with Eric Karros during a crosscountry flight back to LA for their upcoming 11-game homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Miami Marlins.
![[image]](http://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/data/3210/757.jpg) The Dodgers' team plane taking off from Justin Duchscherer's point of view
Los Angeles Times: Thanks for being here Eric Karros: Well I didn't have much of a choice! I'm on a flight, I don't sleep on flights, might as well give ya time. But let's be quick, you're cutting into my David Sedaris time.
LAT: What players do you feel could be doing better right now at this point? EK: Well right now we're third in baseball in scoring runs so I'm not really all that worried about guys who are struggling early on. If its clear that it's a prolonged slump I believe our bench has the capabilities to handle that situation at any position on the diamond. That's what I like about this team, everybody plays, everybody has a role that fits them without leaning on them too heavily. I've seen what happens when a team relies too much on a particular player or a particular group of players, I don't want to be in a bad situation when they aren't being particularly effective for a period. It happens to everyone and this isn't a team that will ebb and flow of a few players' seasons. We're too deep for that to happen.
LAT: So you aren't concerned at all with your players who aren't doing well so far? In particular I speak of Alex Gordon. EK: Well Alex has been struggling, we know that, he knows that more than anyone else. It's not due to a lack of effort at all. He tries and he tries hard. He's just been struggling, doesn't help that he's been unlucky but he's been working with Manny and we've been giving him some extra time off to focus on the game. He's been drawing walks and such at his normal levels he just needs to put more balls into play. And like I said before we can accommodate a few struggling players, our team is deep enough that we can survive a few players struggling. It allows us to get everyone into a groove and hopefully by the time September comes we're clicking on all cylinders.
![[image]](http://uncertaindogma.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/alex-gordon-swings.jpg) "I know. I sucked. I'm working on it." - Alex Gordon after yet another 0fer
LAT: Very early on you had a lot of conflicts to deal with in the bullpen, the bullpen looked to be one of the strengths of this team but it quickly became a major issue, how have you addressed this? EK: Well this little streak we're on should show how much better our bullpen has pitched. We had some issues early on, but a couple changes were made, they're of course subject to change. But I think the current configuration with a little tinkering here and there is more than solid.
![[image]](http://stateoftheline.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/soria.jpg) Joakim Soria was quickly named the Dodgers closer in a move not shocking to a single person in the world
LAT: What players are you particularly surprised at playing wise? EK: Well you gotta feel good for Xavier Paul, he had a very disappointing year last year and from Spring Training he was more than prepared to show baseball what he can do. He is absolutely honed in at the plate, of course I'm not saying he'll hit over .380 this year but I gotta tell ya he's not going to put up the same numbers he did last year. Another guy who's off to a good start is Jay Bruce, he's still struggling against lefties but he's shown to have much more power this year. Heck he's hit a homer just about every other game. He's red hot right now.
![[image]](http://www.campuscircle.com/Sports/images/033513.jpg) Xavier Paul is in the midst of a break-out season after a disappointing 2012
LAT: How do you look at your starting pitching? Bullpen issues aside. EK: Our starters have been fantastic. Everyone's hitting their spots and not giving up the two things that murder pitchers, walks and homeruns. We started out poorly this year because of homeruns and big innings, since there has been a reduction of these, this team has been performing wonderfully. In particularly Mike Pelfrey has been great thus far. I knew he was good before he got here but whew he's been extremely good for us.
![[image]](http://beat.bodoglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/mike-pelfrey.jpg) Mike Pelfrey has been lights out thus far this year posting a 1.99 ERA to go with a perfect 3-0 record
LAT: Anything else you want to add? EK: You're cutting into my David Sedaris time.

LA Dodgers Fastballs All Your Dodgers News At 100 MPH...STRAIGHT AT YOUR HEAD! Justin Duchscherer Designated For Assignment Flexible starter/middle reliever Justin Duchscherer has been designated for assignment. Early on this year it was clear that Duchscherer was struggling, of his first ten appearances only three of them ended with no runners getting on base. "He was leaving too many pitches up," said Dodger pitching coach Orel Hershiser, "walks weren't really an issue, and Justin's not a strikeout pitcher, he was just leaving the ball up too much." If Justin clears waivers, he will likely be assigned to AAA, if he is selected by a team on waivers the Dodgers GM Peter M. Rodriguez-Jackson will gladly let another team take on $3M over the next three years. In Justin's spot outfielder Jason Botts has been called up he will primarily play against left-handed pitching.
![[image]](http://www.sportsgrumblings.com/baseball/articles/content_images/JustinDuchscherer415x266.jpg) We may have seen Justin Duchscherer throw his last pitch as a Dodger
Joakim Soria is The New Closer! Joakim Soria who was acquired this off-season from Kansas City was officially put into the closer's role after former closer Jeremy Accardo blew two of his first four save attempts. Jeremy has been demoted to regular bullpen duty. Since taking over the closer's spot Joakim Soria has been perfect in closing games going five-for-five thus far. Jeremy Accardo said when he lost his closing job, "I didn't pitch well enough to keep it. I'm still going to work my tail off to help this team win and maybe I'll be back closing games one day."
![[image]](http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/MLB/Toronto/2007/06/05/accardo_jeremy250.jpg) Jeremy Accardo has lost his closing job to Joakim Soria
Alex Gordon's Playing Time In Decline Struggling starting third baseman Alex Gordon will no longer be starting against left-handed pitching said manager Eric Karros, "we need to give him more time off to work on his swing and his game" Karros added. Alex Gordon was not immediately available for comment, but after his last start Alex said: "I'm embarrassed. I really hurts not being able to perform to the levels that you know you should be. The way I've played so far this year I don't deserve to be an everyday player. It's up to me to prove it." To compensate for the loss of Gordon and the emergence of Jon Still, Kevin Youkilis has been moved to third base against left-handed pitching, and newly-called up outfielder Jason Botts will play in left field with rookie sensation Yossandy Garcia moving over to right field.
![[image]](http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/images/2006/07/03/dalQcVeI.jpg) Jason Botts will be playing against left-handers in place of the strugging Alex Gordon

LA Dodger Chit Chat LOS ANGELES--After a very active weekend in Dodger-ville we had an opportunity to have a sit down chat with General Manager Peter M. Rodriguez-Jackson.

Los Angeles Times: Well it's been a mighty active week for you, one big move was made, and a few smaller moves were made. The biggest move of course is the trading of Mike Napoli to the Seattle Mariners in return for minor league reliever Jim Troughton and minor league catcher Daniel Binder. What were your reasons for making this move at this point of the season?
![[image]](http://sportsreport.freedomblogging.com/files/2008/04/napoli0409.jpg) "I thought it was a joke at first to be honest. God I hate the f-cking rain." - Mike Napoli after being informed he had been dealt to Seattle.
Rodriguez Jackson: Well the deal was made mostly for salary reasons, we don't feel as if Mike Napoli was performing to the amount that he was being paid. We felt it would be better for us in the long run to see if we could move him and be able to get just as much production out of the position for a lesser price. We signed AJ Pierzynski and he'll be getting some playing time. Always good to add another veteran presence for this team. In return for Mike we got Daniel Binder a minor league catcher who is a work in progress, he's very raw but he's also only 20 years of age, he actually just turned 20 two days ago. We also got Jim Troughton who I can almost guarantee will be in the major leagues one day. He's a very good egg.
![[image]](http://drunkathlete.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/aj-pierzynski-chicago-white-sox-3-drunk-pictures1.jpg) AJ Pierzynski decided to have a party after being notified that he was no longer unemployed
LAT: So are you looking to dump any more salaries this season? PRJ: Well I wouldn't say we're dumping salaries, we're just trying to do what's best for this team and what's best for the future of this team. Throwing money all over the place is how we got into this poor financial situation, showing financial maturity is integral for the future of this team. We're not built to win this year, next year, or the year after. We're aiming at winning for the next decade. Through smart free-agent signings, smart trades, and good drafting.
LAT: So talk about your other deal, particularly the one in which you shipped former top prospect Steve Johnson to Pittsburgh for two minor leaguers? PRJ: We didn't have a spot for Steve, I wish we did but we really didn't. He had sort of been lost in the shuffle in AAA for a while and we felt we owed to him to put him in a situation where he can play in the major leagues. In return we got John Pound a good young arm, he needs to work on his control of course, but if we can work those kinks out he'll be a very valuable arm to have in our system. The other player we got back was Roger Rafter, he's been struggling in AAA a bit, so we're gonna put him in AA and work out the hole in his swing, he has great potential to be a major leaguer perhaps as soon as next year.
LAT: And the final trade you made this week was the most minor out of the bunch sending relievers Travis Banwart and Kyle Ginley to Houston in return for David Viveros, Carlos Armido, and Leon Abreu. Talk about the youngsters that you got back in the deal. PRJ: Well I'll go in alphabetical order. Leon Abreu is a pretty good young arm, he's only 21 and he needs a lot of work, but what 21 year old doesn't? He needs to work on throwing the ball past batters more, if you know what I mean. Carlos Armido is another project player. He has absolutely fantastic raw power, we just need to work with him to hone that power and to stop him from swinging for the fences all the time. Look, the kid is 19 years-old, if you had the kinda power he had you'd be trying to murderate the ball every at-bat too. But that's not how you get and more importantly keep a job in major league baseball. If Carlos is able to properly get his swing together, he's going to be a guy you'll all be talking about. Last but not least was David Viveros, he's only 23, but he's almost major league ready with his bat, I'll say that up front. However, his defense leaves much to be desired and we'd really like to see him draw more walks. We got project players and if we're able to set em right, who knows what they can accomplish.
LAT: Do you have any other news to announce? PRJ: Oh Jeremy Accardo is no longer a Dodger. LAT: Wait...what? PRJ: Right before this interview began we reach an agreement in principle with the Boston Red Sox to trade Jeremy Accardo and a minor league arm in return for the #62 prospect in baseball Hunter Strickland. Jeremy was just not working out here, and we felt it was time to move on before both of us got hurt more. We dangled him out there and Boston was willing to part with Hunter Strickland so we had to jump on it. Hunter is a bit underdeveloped but our minor league coaches are the envy of all of professional sports, and we're going to make it a focus of this team to fix Hunter's windup and have less walks happening. He has fantastic stuff, amazing movement, he just doesn't yet know how to harness it.
